Danielle’s notes were incredibly helpful in moving my stories to the next stage. Her questions are incredibly incisive and thoughtful. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking to identify holes in the narrative, spots for development, unanswered questions, room for more information, and kinks that need to be worked out. I felt her feedback, rather than pushing me toward a certain style or form, helped me identify the story I was looking to tell and moved me toward getting there.

Danielle Lazarin was a thoughtful and encouraging instructor. In the short story class I took, the students had a wide range of experience and comfort levels, and Danielle met each of us where we were. As a teacher, she was incredibly organized, patient and great at providing examples of whatever writing device we were discussing that week, and was a joy to learn from. She’s also a sharp editor who asks the right, probing questions, and knows how to push her students to write the best they can. I highly recommend Danielle for any of your writing needs.
Danielle's instruction on revision reoriented my writing life. I've always struggled with making sweeping changes, but Danielle made it easy. Her exercises and feedback demystified revision and made the process from first draft to final draft so much clearer. I no longer dread drafting, but see each iteration as an opportunity with an obvious goal.
Danielle pushes you to think more deeply about your characters, your structure, and all of the elements that make writing work. In particular, she’s given me so many resources on how to revise your work, a process that can be frustrating but with her guidance becomes somehow fun! In a one-on-one setting, she’s patient, encouraging, and ultimately everything she edits or reviews becomes better just from her reading it. Simply talking to Danielle about writing as a craft makes you itch to write, so working with her gives you the tools to turn that itch into action.

Danielle’s class didn’t just teach me the most important revision technique ever (take her course and you’ll discover it, too!). She also introduced me to a variety of writers and tools for my story type, all of which have changed my revision process for the better.
Danielle is a terrific teacher, and I say that as someone who has chosen to study with her twice. Her classroom exercises have led to stories of my own. Her comments on my submissions have driven me to take pieces to full fruition, months after the final assignment. I have completed short stories now that exist solely because I was in her class. Beyond a doubt, working with Danielle has made me a better writer. Highly recommended.

Danielle is the sort of teacher that only comes along every so often. From the first class, she broke down complex elements of writing in ways that felt easy to understand in readings and exciting to try in my own work. She created a trusting, friendly, and honest workshop environment and gave specific and detailed edits on my stories that made the process of revision seem less daunting. I would jump at the chance to learn with Danielle again.
Danielle is an incredibly generous and encouraging instructor. Her close reading of my work allowed me to see my writing from new angles. Her thoughtful, incisive feedback helped me become a better storyteller.
I sought out Danielle's help while writing my first novel. I had reached a standstill in my writing and was looking for additional feedback and direction to help carry my manuscript forward. Danielle offered me great advice and a specific, informative critique which helped me to rethink my work. In addition to great feedback on my writing, Danielle was always quick to respond to my emails and questions and returned my manuscript quickly. This was my first time working with a professional reader and writing coach, and I would absolutely recommend Danielle to any other writers that need additional feedback and pointed critiques of their projects.
